eLearning - Information and Attendance

Please don't forget to use the Attendance Reporting Form and mark your student present.It is very important that students are working on their eLeaning assignments today!

Students must submit the attendance form to be considered present!  If students are unable to complete the form or do not have internet, a parent and/or guardian must call and leave a message for Mrs. Farus, Student Services Secretary, at 574-772-1677.  Assignment completion will also be reviewed as an additional attendance check.

Students will be informed of their learning targets and activities by 10:00 am. Please remember, students may use a phone, laptop, or tablet to check assignments; any device that can connect to the internet can access Canvas.Need Assistance?

Teachers will be available online, by email, by phone, or via the Canvas message system for questions and help during the day from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (by 10:00 a.m., if district called a delay earlier that morning). Teachers will inform students the mode of communication to be used on an eLearning Day.

Bowen Center - Skills Coaching Now Available for Struggling Students at KHS!

Bowen Center - Individual Skill Training is done by a Skills Coach. All Skills Coaches have been trained in Evidence-Based Practices and they are able to meet with the client in the home, school, or community for the purpose of teaching life functioning skills. The purpose of these skills is to teach the client how to make meaningful improvements in daily role functioning. Our Skills Coaches are directly shadowed and supervised by Skills Coach Leaders, who assist in teaching best practices and promote further engagement with clients, families and treatment team.

Skill Training

  • Mindfulness – learning to focus attention, stay on task, increase awareness of self and
  • environment
  • Emotion Regulation- anger management, understanding and controlling emotions
  • Distress tolerance- developing coping skills, identifying triggers
  • Interpersonal skills- social skills, communicating effectively and building relationships
  • Building mastery- self-esteem, encouraging involvement in community, developing
  • interests and hobbies, identifying strengths
  • Parent education - team meetings, care coordination, linking to community resources
  • Understanding diagnosis- knowing symptoms and ways to cope with mental illness
  • Goal-setting – Identifying personal goals and setting manageable steps
  • Problem Solving – listing out pros and cons, identifying positive alternatives
  • Independent Living Skills – hygiene, organization, focus and concentration

Knox High School is a wonderful school that has seen success in a number of areas and we continue to be excited about sharing enriching experiences with our students. We feel that it is important to keep the line of communication open between the teachers of Knox High School and the parents of the students that attend. Our staff is committed to excellence and we know as a team with parents we can create an environment that allows many opportunities for our students to excel. Congratulations to the Lady Redskins Basketball team for winning the Wildcat Winter Classic for the 2nd year in a row.

Congratulations to Coach John Hendryx.  He has been selected to receive the Semper Fi Coach Award.  This is presented to a coach who models the Marine Corps leadership values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
