Knox High School Sophomore Jacob Keen performed on Sunday March 10, with the Indiana All State Band at Purdue University. Jacob auditioned as a trumpet player and was selected to be a member of the 89 student ensemble. The selection for the All State Band is a two step process that begins with a nomination by the student's band directors. The second step includes live audition where the student must prepare selections chosen by the All State Band Selection Committee as well as perform a selection that is given to the student in the audition.

The All State Band is sponsored by the Indiana Bandmasters Association and is a very exclusive performance ensemble. The last time a Knox High School had a representative as a member of this prestigious event was 2016. Prior to 2016, the last member was in 1999. This year the All State Band was conducted by Scott Teeple, Director of the Wind Ensemble and a conducting professor from the University of Wisconsin, and Jason Worzbyt, the Associate Director of Ban from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
